INAUGURATION OF ESAMELCO 20/25MVA POWER TRANSFORMER AND 1MW MINI-HYDRO

                Borongan City – The National Electrification Administration (NEA) Administrator Antonio Mariano C. Almeda visited Eastern Samar and led the blessing and inauguration of two major projects of Eastern Samar Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ESAMELCO) on February 20.

Along with the 4Ps Partylist Representative and House Minority Leader, Hon. Marcelino C. Libanan, and Lawaan Mayor Hon. Athene Mendros, Admin Nani Almeda led the inauguration and blessing ceremony of the 1MW Amanjuray Mini-Hydro Power Plant located in Brgy. Bolusao, Lawaan, Eastern Samar.

In his message, Admin Almeda said that he is happy and proud that ESAMELCO is one of the 2 electric coops in the country to operate hydropower plant.

“Let me express my gratitude to ESAMELCO for coming-up with dynamic ideas and giving it all you got, your hard work. And binuo niyo ‘to sa dugo at pawis ang puhunan. Nakapaganda hong makita at marinig na ang isang kooperatiba ay may sariling power source,” said Admin Almeda.

The embedded hydropower plant will now be synchronized to the grid after more than 30 years since its construction. Also, it is now a hydropower plant with modern electronic control panels that will provide reliable and improved power quality, especially for the adjacent municipalities of Lawaan and Balangiga.

Thereafter, Admin Nani Almeda and Hon. Nonoy Libanan also led the inauguration and blessing ceremony of the Borongan Substation which was upgraded from a 15MVA to a 20/25MVA capacity.

ESAMELCO General Manager Bong Amancio said that the upgrade of the Borongan Substation will address the continuously growing load in Borongan City, and its neighboring municipalities.

The said important activities were attended by Vice-Governor Maricar Goteesan and BM Hon. PJ Evardone, representing Gov. Ben P. Evardone, and Ms. Cora Basada, representing Congw. Maria Fe R. Abunda (esamelco/ccsmo/iab).
